Caitlin Ortega

Assistant Teacher - Lead Teacher 2019-2020

Hello! My name is Caitlin, and I am so excited to be growing into the role of Lead Teacher at Asheville Montessori School starting in Fall 2019! I have loved my three years of assisting here, and I feel so ready and supported in the choice to take my Montessori teacher training. This summer I will begin the yearlong process of gaining my Montessori certification through the Seacoast Teacher Education Center. The amazing community amongst the staff and families of AMS nurtures all who have the pleasure of being a part of it, and it is with joy that I continue to grow and contribute as a part of this community.

I love the children so much! Listening to them, relating to them, and creating the conditions to inspire them give me deep fulfillment. Watching them grow through the 3 year cycle is awe-inspiring; each child develops so much and so uniquely, in a way that’s just right for them. I am passionate about nurturing the inherent wisdom of our own wholeness and “enough-ness” that we each come into the world with, and I feel privileged to be reminded of that truth by the children every day in my work. It is my sincere hope to create and curate an environment which allows every being to be the brightest, happiest, most secure and loving version of themselves. I hope to create safety, space, and inspiration for the children to grow into themselves: where they can feel capable of overcoming challenges, feel confident in their ability to think and learn, and discover and maintain the joy of discovery.
